Jubilee!
An Advent Scripture Course for 2024

"A jubilee shall that fiftieth year be to you; in it you shall neither sow, not reap what grows of itself, nor gather the grapes from the undressed vines.
For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you; you shall eat what it yields out of the field”
(Leviticus 25:11–12)

We have chosen this year's theme as a way to enter into Advent, the Jubilee Year (with its theme 'Pilgrims of Hope'), and also to focus on the Gospel of Luke which will be read in the liturgical year ahead. We desperately need hope, and it is there aplenty in sacred Scripture if we only have ears to hear. Over the six inputs of the course, Jessie will unpack the concepts of Jubilee and Sabbath from the Torah and the Prophets , Kieran will follow the theme through Luke's Gospel, and Sean will engage with the Magnificat and Benedictus as hopeful Advent prayers. There will be a prayerful meditation for the start of Advent and a Q&A Session later in December.

As well as our usual registrations for individuals and households, we are also offering an option for parishes to buy the programme. This 'parish' ticket includes guidelines and suggestions for offering the videos as an Advent initiative in the parish or community.
